Getting help to enrol

Find out who can help you enrol to vote, and how you can act on behalf of someone who can’t complete their enrolment form.

Getting someone to help you enrol

You can ask someone you know to help you enrol.

A support person can help you complete your form

You can ask a support person, such as a friend or family member, to help you complete your enrolment form, or to complete your form for you.

You need to sign the form.

If you are acting on behalf of someone who can’t complete their enrolment form

If you know someone who can’t complete and sign their enrolment form because of a physical or mental impairment, you may be able to help.

Helping someone with a physical impairment

If you’re enrolled to vote, you can complete and sign an enrolment form for someone who can’t do it themselves because of a physical impairment. Write ‘Elector with physical impairment — signed by their direction’ next to your signature.

You can also complete and sign the form if you have power of attorney. Write ‘Elector with physical impairment — power of attorney’ next to your signature.

You can upload the completed form, or email it to us.

Helping someone with a mental impairment

You can complete and sign an enrolment form for someone who can’t do it themselves because of a mental impairment if you:

  • are enrolled to vote
  • have enduring power of attorney
  • are the person’s appointed welfare guardian.

You’ll need to complete another form

You’ll also need to fill in another form so we can contact you as the representative of the person with a mental impairment. Contact us for a form:
