N13084 Wyatt McKay Objection Boundary

Wyatt McKay

Objection

Mt Albert
This objection relates to a boundary change
This objection does not relate to a name change

Wyatt McKay

I object to this change as [street name] is definitely more epsom electorate than mt Albert. We are right next to mt Eden and the associated shops. My house valuation is based being in this electorate, and other reasons. For example school zones.

Suggested solution

Maintain electorate as is

I strongly object to the proposed electorate change that would move [street name] from Epsom to Mt Albert, as this directly impacts the associated school zoning. We purchased our home at a premium specifically because it was within both the Epsom electorate and the zone of a top-performing girls’ school -Epsom Girls Grammar School with the intention of enrolling our two daughters. This change would significantly reduce the value of our investment and disrupt plans made in good faith. It affects many families who have made similar commitments based on current boundaries. I urge you to reconsider this proposal to preserve fairness, stability, and community trust.

Suggested solution

A more practical solution would be to reposition the boundary around Eden Terrace, where high-density apartments are contributing to significant population growth. Moving those areas to the Epsom electorate creates unsustainable pressure on the girls’ school and risks overcrowding and reduced educational quality.
N13087 Mr & Ms Jacqui & Michael Burton Objection Boundary

Mr & Ms Jacqui & Michael Burton

Objection

Mt Albert
This objection relates to a boundary change
This objection does not relate to a name change

Mr & Ms Jacqui & Michael Burton

We strongly object to being moved from the Epsom electorate into the Mt Albert electorate. As we have lived in [street name], Mt Eden for 37 years and are only 8 houses from Mt Eden Road and a short walk to Mt Eden village we strongly identify with Mt Eden and wish to stay in that electorate. We look to Mt Eden not to Mt Albert for our daily lives.

Suggested solution

We suggest that the boundary change is repositioned for Eden Terrace, which is proposed to move from Auckland Central to Epsom instead.

This objection does not relate to a name change

Claire Tomsett

I object to the changes proposed to move [street name] (amongst other streets north of Balmoral) from the Epsom Electorate to Mt Albert Electorate. These streets are closer and have associations with Eden-Epsom not Mt Albert. Furthermore I have no associations with or use any of the facilities or roads in Mt Albert. I have associations and use the roads and facilities in the Epsom area and as such have more interest and opinion on what happens in this area. I dont see the purpose in relocating such a small area to an area that has no relevance to the people affected by this change.

Suggested solution

Maintain the status quo - there is little justifiable reason to relocate such a small area to an area that has no relevance to those affected by this change

This community is connected to Epsom and Mt Eden, not Mt Albert. We are a strong community and I strongly object to tax payer funds being used to shuffle boundaries that do not need to be shuffled. What a waste of time and money. We do not have money to waste at this time.

Suggested solution

Just leave the boundaries alone. What is your reason for believing the boundaries need to be moved?

Mt Roskill incorporating Epsom streets

As a resident of [street name] Mt Eden we look to Mount Eden, not Mount Albert, for our day-to-day life – shopping, amenities and leisure.

We care deeply about education and specifically purchased our house in [street name] so that our two girls could attended EGGS.

This change would split the Epsom Girls’ Grammar School zone – which closely mirrors the electorate boundaries – between Epsom and Mount Albert, meaning we would longer be in the EGGS zone.

Suggested solution

Retain Croydon, Herbert and Kingsview RDs in Espom.

Some Balmoral residents removed from Epsom and placed in the Mount Albert electorate. The proposed changes simply do not make sense:
These residents look to Mount Eden, not Mount Albert, for their day-to-day life – shopping, amenities and leisure.
Residents in the Epsom electorate care deeply about education. This change would split the Epsom Girls’ Grammar School zone – which closely mirrors the electorate boundaries – between Epsom and Mount Albert, dividing this strong community of interest.

Suggested solution

No need to remove existing Balmoral residents from Epsom
N13092 Dougal Blyth Objection Boundary

Dougal Blyth

Objection

Mt Albert
This objection relates to a boundary change
This objection does not relate to a name change

Dougal Blyth

These proposals would see some Balmoral residents (residents in the area north of Balmoral Road up to Herbert, Croydon and Fairview Roads) removed from Epsom and placed in the Mount Albert electorate. The proposed changes simply do not make sense: (i) these residents look to Mount Eden, not Mount Albert, for their day-to-day life – shopping, amenities and leisure; (ii) residents in the Epsom electorate care deeply about education. This change would split the Epsom Girls’ Grammar School zone – which closely mirrors the electorate boundaries – between Epsom and Mount Albert, dividing this strong community of interest.

Suggested solution

Retain these Balmoral residents' addresses in the Epsom electorate. If necessary, do not include the residents in Newton and Grafton in Epsom. These areas have less natural connection with Epsom as a community of interest.

Electorate B
My mountain is Maungawhau. I have a deep connection to this mountain for the past 35yrs. I am a volunteer for Friends of Maungawhau and my children attended Mt Eden Primary and Auckland Grammar, all a safe walk away from our home. The village is my local and my life is very much centered in Epsom area. I would not like to be separated from this area’s electorate and MP.

Suggested solution

Take the boundary to the main road, Balmoral and Dominion rather than separate this community of streets.

Mr Salesh Narayan

I live off Mt Eden road, just over 1km away from the mountain. I purchased the property on the basis its in Epsom not in Mt Albert, an area i do not identify with. I strongly object to this change.

Suggested solution

Make the change sensible and either draw the line on Balmoral road or on Henley road. Every area close to Mt Eden, close to Mt Eden village off Mt Eden road within 2km radius at least should be included. Including Greenlane in the electorate does not make sense either.

I object to the removal of the area north of Balmoral Road from Epsom to Mount Albert because that area is closer to Epsom and that most of our social connections are in Epsom. I feel being cut off from a part of my life if the change is implemented.

Suggested solution

I suggest that the proposed change be shelved
N13097 Mr Brendon Johnston Objection Boundary

Mr Brendon Johnston

Objection

Mt Albert
This objection relates to a boundary change
This objection does not relate to a name change

Mr Brendon Johnston

I feel part of the Mount Eden community and not Mount Albert. I do my regular shopping in Mount Eden and I go out in Mount Eden. I rarely go through Mount Albert and never shop there. I work in the CBD so my daily commute (Ebike) is through Mount Eden. My interactions with the community are primarily North of my address , not South. Breaking up part of Mount Eden into Mount Albert electorate would fragment the community and makes little sense when you are trying to add voters to an electoral seat.

Suggested solution

Leave [street name] and nearby streets as part of Epsom.
N13098 Jayne Cobham Objection Boundary

Jayne Cobham

Objection

Mt Albert
This objection relates to a boundary change
This objection does not relate to a name change

Jayne Cobham

I object to changing the boundary for two reasons. Firstly, we live in Mt Eden, socialise and do our daily living in Mt Eden, want to be represented within the Mt Eden/Epsom electorate as we align our lives with that group. We do not live in Mt Albert, have never been associated with Mt Albert and do not have any link or relationship with Mt Albert. Secondly, we align with schools in Epsom and our history is with the schools in Epsom and we would be devastated to lose that link to that history and access to the schools our children have been part of and we foresee the next generation of our family being part of.

Suggested solution

Stop the boundary at Balmoral road and keep the Mt Eden side of Balmoral road in the current Epsom electorate. Balmoral Road is a significant landmark and a natural "line" between the two electorates. Keep the streets north of Balmoral in the Epsom Electorate.

The area that is bounded by Dominion Road - Croyden Ave, Mt Eden Road and Balmoral Road is being proposed to move from Epsom Electorate to Mt Albert. This makes no sense to me as a resident within this area... the main roads of Dominion Road and Balmoral Roads naturally orientate our day to day living to the Mt Eden shops/Epsom electorate.

Suggested solution

Leave the area specified above as Epsom Electorate

I live in [street name] - and have done all my life. This is in a area that has been marked to move from Epsom to Mount Albert Electorate. All of my day to day life is orientated to the Epsom electorate - the main roads of Balmoral and Dominion Roads particularly contribute to this - but I do not identify with Mt Albert as my "base"

Suggested solution

Keep the Epsom electorate boundary for the streets bounded by Dominion Road, Balmoral Road, Mt Eden Road and Croyden Ave

We live in [street name] - which is within an area to be moved from Epsom to Mt Albert Electorate. We have lived here for 21 years. All of our day to day life - shopping -hobbies (tennis) - social activities - is orientated to Mt Eden/Epsom and not Mount Albert. It makes no sense to be to be moved to the Mt Albert Electorate

Suggested solution

Keep the area bounded by Balmoral - Dominion - croydon and Mt Eden roads within Epsom Electorate

I am very disappointed that these proposals would see some Balmoral residents removed from Epsom and placed in the Mount Albert electorate. The proposed changes simply do not make sense:
• These residents look to Mount Eden, not Mount Albert, for their day-to-day life – shopping, amenities and leisure.
• Residents in the Epsom electorate care deeply about education. This change would split the Epsom Girls’ Grammar School zone – which closely mirrors the electorate boundaries – between Epsom and Mount Albert, dividing this strong community of interest.

Suggested solution

Given the reasons outlined above it is important that this change is not made.

Having lived most of my life in Mount Eden I object how history is being changed to shift most of what used to be part of Mt Eden Borough Council into Mt Albert!!!. Why...History being changed and National wanting to grab Mt Albert??? Anyhow this makes no sense as the number of people has grown everywhere.....

Suggested solution

Leave us in Epsom as we have a much better MP.
N13105 Mr Errol Tongs Objection Boundary

Objection

Mt Albert

This objection does not relate to a name change

Mr Errol Tongs

Fortunately, I am not affected by the changes as I remain in the Epsom electorate, but it is getting closer to me being excluded. The proposed changes though would see some Balmoral residents removed from Epsom and placed in the Mount Albert electorate. The proposed changes do not make sense:
• These residents look to Mount Eden, not Mount Albert, for their day-to-day life – shopping, amenities, exercise and leisure.
• Residents in the Epsom electorate care deeply about education. This change would split the Epsom Girls’ Grammar School zone – which closely mirrors the electorate boundaries – between Epsom and Mount Albert, dividing this strong community of interest.

Suggested solution

It would be great to have the boundary remain where it was, for these people.

Do not cut the corner from EPSOM

I object to the proposed boundary change impacting my home and neighbourhood in Mt Eden. We are part of Mt Eden, we face Maungawhau, our neighbourhood is very much part of Mt Eden and I am annoyed that someone wants to remove our corner and add it to Mt Albert.

We have nothing to do with Mt Albert, our children attend school in Mt Eden and Epsom, we have been part of this community for over 25 years and take umbrage at being removed with a change of boundarty peg.

Strangley the suggested move mirrors the Auckland Grammar zone boundary change created in the 1950s when Henry Cooper took exception to the Tongan community residing in our neighbourhood and carved our corner of Mt Eden out of the school zone.
Are the moves made to carve us out of Epsom made with the same racial overtones? Are the map writers using Auckland Grammar School as the experts in creating a whiter epsom?

Suggested solution

Leave the Epsom constituent boundary at the South West corner alone. Potters park with the intersection of Balmoral Road and Dominion Road is a clear junction and the end of Mt Eden. Keep Mt Eden together, we are a cohesive and tightknit community and I do not want to be isolated from the current representation.

I object to the moving of the Epsom electoral zone boundary. It would move me from the Epsom electorate to the Mt Albert electorate. I have no afilliation with Mt Albert and very rarely even go to the area. My house is five minutes walk to the Mt Eden village. My community participation is with the Mt Eden / Epsom area. My children attended local primary, intermediate and secondary schools in the Epsom area. My sense of community is in Epsom not Mt Albert.
N13108 Mr Peter Smith Objection Boundary

Mr Peter Smith

Objection

Mt Albert
This objection relates to a boundary change
This objection does not relate to a name change

Mr Peter Smith

I object to the proposed changes to the boundaries of the Epsom Electorate (that are proposed to become part of Mt Albert Electorate) that will affect our neighbourhood as we look to Mt Eden, not Mt Albert as our local community for our day to day living. This change also will likely impact the Epsom Girls Grammar zone which has historically aligned to the Epsom boundary between the two electorates. This will affect families with younger children living in the area and also impact house valuations.

Suggested solution

I suggest that the boundary change is repositioned for Eden Terrace which is proposed to move from Auckland Central to Epsom instead.
N13109 Camille Hill Objection Boundary

Camille Hill

Objection

I object to the proposed boundary change that would see some streets in Mount Eden moved from the Epsom electorate to the Mt Albert electorate.
My whānau have strong ties to the Mt Eden and Epsom community and Mount Eden village. We were members of Eden/Epsom Playcentre for many years and forged strong relationships within our local Mt Eden and Epsom community.. Our daily lives revolve around our village, Mt Eden village.
My whānau and I whakapapa Māori and our local maunga is Maungawhau/Mt Eden. We visit our maunga regularly, we know it’s rich history and we have strong ties to our whenua. The proposed boundary change disconnects us from our community and whenua that we have cultivated a sense of belonging within. It places us in an electorate, Mt Albert, where we have no history or meaningful connection to the community or whenua.

Suggested solution

My suggested solution is that the boundary remains as it currently is.

We belong to Mt Eden/Epsom not Mt Albert.
We want our children to go to Epsom girls grammar its close and also we are in this area to be a part of Mt Eden community not Mt Albert. It will make more sense if the boundary was split from dominion road and not take a part of the streets of Mt Eden. We have been here for ages and do not want to change.

Suggested solution

Keep the current zone DO NOT change to the new proposed idea. It does not make sense. The zone boundary should be dominion road(left and right side.)
N13111 Mr Peter Thompson Objection Boundary

Mr Peter Thompson

Objection

Mt Albert

Mr Peter Thompson

This is not an objection per se- I would just like to point out that someone has been disseminating misleading flyers regarding the electoral boundary changes to the Epsom electorate, suggesting that the changes will affect school zoning and property values. One would presume the party responsible has a vested interest in retaining the current boundary settings.

Suggested solution

Investigate and expose those responsible for trying to rort the democratic process.
Disregard submissions premised on such misleading information.
N13112 Lisa Manks Objection Boundary

Lisa Manks

Objection

Mt Albert
This objection relates to a boundary change
This objection does not relate to a name change

Lisa Manks

We are longtime residents of [street name] mt Eden, our children have attended local schools, I have been involved in my community and a daily user of all the retail in the local Mt Eden village ( a 5 min walk up the road). I understand that the even number side of our street is to be moved into the Mt Albert electorate. It would be disappointing not to have a say in Mt Eden/Epsom politics, where a Mt Albert MP will have little to no interest. We look to Mount Eden, not Mount Albert, for our day-to-day life – shopping, amenities, schools, leisure.

I can not fathom the logic of splitting a street in the heart of Mt Eden into 2 different electorates which have different concerns.

Suggested solution

I understand the need for change as our city grows and population moves around. I would have thought that for example the residents of Newton and Grafton would have closer ties with Auckland Central rather than Epsom
N13113 Amira Pearson Objection Boundary

Amira Pearson

Objection

Mt Albert
This objection relates to a boundary change
This objection does not relate to a name change

Amira Pearson

It makes no sense to cut the Potters Park corner off the Epsom electorate and add it to Mt Albert and replace it with some of Auckland Central. The current boundaries around the Potters Park area are marked by major arterial roads which already divide the community. We live in Mount Eden and that is Mount Eden is our natural "hub", which we would then be separated from.

Suggested solution

Instead why not move some of Auckland Central directly into Mt Albert, as there isn't the same natural demarcation lines there, and it is an area that will be moving electorates anyway.
